Woman extracted from van following crash near Maple Park

PIERCE TOWNSHIP – A woman had to be extracted from her van Thursday morning when a truck struck her vehicle sending it into a ditch and rolling onto its roof.

The collision happened at 7:46 a.m. at the intersection of Keslinger Road and Hinckley Road about 2 miles southwest of Maple Park, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Robert Devlieger, 41, of Machesney Park, was driving east on Keslinger Road at Hinckley Road when his truck struck the woman’s van, according to the release. He was unable to stop on the snow-covered roadway.

Once the van was hit, it slid into the northeast ditch and rolled onto its roof, the release states. The woman needed Maple Park firefighters to extract her from the van.

She was taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by Maple Park emergency services.

Police cited Devlieger for driving too fast for the conditions.
