Woman hospitalized after crash at Route 23 and Lloyd Road in Genoa

GENOA – A woman was taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital after she rear-ended a semi-truck near the intersection of Route 23 and Lloyd Road on Thursday.

Police and firefighters responded to the scene about 12:18 p.m. Sgt. Ben Hiatt of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said a yellow Chevrolet Monte Carlo heading south on Route 23 crashed into the back of a semi truck just north of Lloyd and spun into a ditch on the right side of the road.

The driver of the Monte Carlo was taken to the hospital with an unspecified leg injury, Hiatt said. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Genoa police and firefighters also responded to the scene. Police helped direct traffic, which narrowed to a single lane on the left side of Route 23 for about 20 minutes. Traffic was clear in both lanes by 12:45 p.m.
