A 22-year-old Woodstock man faces felony aggravated battery charges after police say he drove his vehicle while under the influence rapidly into an area crowded with people and hit a pedestrian.
Alfredo D. Jordan was initially charged with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and reckless conduct following the Sept. 6 incident, but a grand jury handed down the felony charges earlier this month, court records show.
Jordan now faces five felonies, including aggravated battery resulting in bodily harm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated reckless driving resulting in bodily harm, and two counts of aggravated driving under the influence resulting in bodily harm.
A vehicle drove Sept. 6 onto a property in the 22600 block of Kishwaukee Valley Road outside of Marengo where a large party of about 50 people, including children, was taking place, according to McHenry County Sheriff’s Office reports obtained by the Northwest Herald through a Freedom of Information Act request.
At least one person was injured, according to the report and court records. The man received an injury to his lower right leg and was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital by paramedics, according to a police report.
The vehicle left the Kishwaukee Valley Road property before sheriff’s deputies arrived and an anonymous caller notified dispatchers that it was eastbound on Kishwaukee Valley Road, according to the report.
A vehicle matching the description was pulled over by deputies and Jordan was subsequently arrested, according to the report.
An attempt Tuesday to reach the attorney representing Jordan was unsuccessful.
