A 40-year-old Wyanet woman died following a single-vehicle crash Friday on Interstate 80 near Ottawa.
Nicole N. Maloy was a passenger in the vehicle, the La Salle County Coroner’s Office said. No other information was shared at this time about the condition of other vehicle occupant(s).
The crash occurred about a quarter mile west of the Route 71 exit in the westbound lane. Illinois State Police closed Interstate 80 westbound at exist 97 and rerouted traffic for a period of time Friday morning.
An investigative autopsy will be conducted Monday. The accident is under investigation by the La Salle County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police Reconstruction Unit.
