Two injured in vehicle collision

Two drivers were injured in a vehicle collision at about 1:20 p.m. March 19 at the intersection of Route 47 and Galena Road.

Alice Leman, 60, of the 300 block of Spring Street in Elgin, was charged with disobeying a traffic control signal in connection with the crash. Police said Leman’s vehicle passed into the intersection against a red light, striking a vehicle driven by a 64 year-old Sandwich woman. Both women suffered minor injuries. Leman was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, while the Sandwich woman was taken to Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital in Sandwich.

Rear-end crash nets citations

A Plano man was cited for driving while using a communications device and driving with a suspended license in connection with a vehicle collision at 8:18 a.m. March 18 at the intersection of routes 34 and 47. Police said Marco Williams, 27, of the 800 block of West South Street in Plano, was eastbound on Route 34 when his vehicle struck the rear of another vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Plano man, which was stopped at the traffic signal.

According to the police report, Williams told police he accelerated when the light turned green and then looked at his phone. There were no injuries in the collision.
