Applicants now being accepted for vacant DeKalb County Board seat

The DeKalb County Republican Central Committee is accepting applications from DeKalb County Board District 11 residents interested in serving on the DeKalb County Board to fill an unexpired term of a recently retired member.

District 11 includes the Sandwich area.

This appointment will be until November 30, 2020. Each County Board member serves concurrently as a Forest Preserve Commissioner and must be a citizen of the U.S., 18 years of age or older, a registered voter in DeKalb County and a resident of the district for 12 months preceding the appointment.

As the current vacancy is from a member elected as a Republican, the individual applying for this vacancy also must be a member of the Republican Party.

Members receive a per diem (current rate $85 a meeting) for board and committee meetings. Members of the Forest Preserve Operations Committee receive an annual salary which is prorated and paid in 11 monthly payments of about $85 each.

Application information will be reviewed by the members of the DeKalb County RepublicanCentral Committee from District 11. Once they have completed their review of applications, interviews with interested individuals will be scheduled. Central Committee members will choose a name to forward to the DeKalb County Board chairman, who will name a replacement to be voted on by the full board on or about Aug. 21. Interested candidates should submit a resume and a letter of intent.
