DeKalb police search for suspects involved in armed robbery at High Meadows

DeKALB – DeKalb police are on the lookout for suspects believed to be armed with a handgun after responding to reports on a robbery at the High Meadows apartment complex Wednesday.

According to scanner traffic, suspects stole a black Kia from a parking lot at 1400 W. Lincoln Highway at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. A city of DeKalb text alert said the vehicle has license plate Z573775.

Residents are told not to approach the vehicle and, if located, to call 911, according to the DeKalb alert.

An Northern Illinois University safety alert sent out shortly after described the suspects as two males, approximately 6 feet tall, 125 pounds, wearing black clothing and masks. The vehicle headed east, according to the safety alert.

A DeKalb police officer on the scene of 1400 W. Lincoln Highway on Wednesday declined to give further information, but said the DeKalb police, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police are investigating the incident, which had no reported injuries.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
