SYCAMORE – A Rochelle man was sentenced to a decade in prison after he pleaded guilty to violating an order of protection while on probation involving electronic harassment and threats.
Antonio Sanchez, 27, of the 600 block of South Second Street, Rochelle, was sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by DeKalb County Judge Marcy Buick this week after he pleaded guilty May 15 to violating an order of protection while he was on probation for previous convictions, including harassing a witness, aggravated stalking and violating an order of protection.
“Left unchecked, domestic offenders represent an untold threat to victim and to the community,” DeKalb County State’s Attorney Rick Amato said in a news release. “This defendant was given plenty of notice to leave this victim alone, but he insisted on bullying, unable to take no for an answer. My thanks to Assistant State’s Attorney Alesandra Friend for her terrific work and to the DeKalb Police Department.”
Prosecutors in court said Sanchez, between March 12 and March 27, 2019, sent multiple electronic messages, including voice mails, to a person threatening violence to the person and their family. At the time of the message, Sanchez was already under court order to have no contact with the victim, whom he knew, including through social media.
Sanchez’s sentence is a compilation of three years for his 2019 offenses, three years for the stalking and violating an order of protection offenses, and seven years for violating parole.
