Egyptian gets spooky for BOO’ze & Spirits Tours

DeKALB – The Egyptian Theatre in downtown DeKalb is offering a glimpse into its spooky past with four BOO’ze & Spirits Tours in October.

The tours will be at 8 p.m. Fridays, Oct. 2, 9, 16 and 23.

The Egyptian Theatre is known as one of the most haunted buildings in town and is one of the top 10 haunted theaters in Illinois. Join the theater staff as they share all the secrets and stories with a “balcony to backstage” tour that focuses not only on the history of the 90-year-old building but also all of the theater’s ghostly guests.

This tour, which is in the dark using only your flashlights, starts in the lobby and will include climbing stairs and extended periods of standing. Doors open one hour before each tour. Guests can grab a drink from the new concessions stand to make it a truly spirited evening.

Everyone must bring a flashlight for the tour.  Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

This evening tour will last approximately two hours and tickets are limited.

All attendees must wear a mask covering their mouth and nose. Social distancing will be in place throughout the tour. Tour groups will remain small for the comfort of those in attendance.

Tickets cost $25 for adults with a $5 discount for students and seniors. Tickets are on sale online at www.egyptiantheatre.org or by calling 815-758-1215.

The Egyptian Theatre, located at 135 N. Second St. in downtown DeKalb, is owned and operated by Preservation of Egyptian Theatre Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more information, visit www.egyptiantheatre.org.
